R.I.P. Lo Wright
Damn.
Here's a guy we've talked about for years as a solid journeyman addition to KG's Wolves.
Found dead in the woods by suspected foul play.

RIP Lo Wright. He was a nice dude, he hooked me up with his shoes when I was like 16 and was always cool to the fans. I also remember alot of us wanted him on this team to be our center pretty bad and I was a fan. He was a good player. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

It looks like suicide
Memphis police have found the body of a man that sources say is former NBA player Lorenzen Wright.
The body was found in southeast Memphis and there appears to be a self-inflicted gun shot wound on the body, according to police sources.

At least 12 times? Yeah u can rule out suicide
People are freaking sick
Hopefully he didn't get himself into something he shouldn't have.I doubt it but it's possible.Looks like he called 911 at one point so he obviously knew he was in trouble
Memphis can be extremely dangerous.

No idea how this might relate to Wright's death, but it seems pretty likely that he was having money issues. Wright made more than $50m in his career, but he was supporting a small army of friends and family (which is fine, even noble, but very expensive), he was divorced from the mother of his children, and he recently had two million+ homes foreclosed on. He was described in this SI.com column as "the Jordan of posses":

In the course of the reporting, I heard one story again and again: Lorenzen Wright, then of the Memphis Grizzlies, was the Jordan of possés. Hell, he employed one "bobo" who drew a check just for waking him up every morning.
Like a lot of rumors floating around the sportscape, it contained vestiges of truth, but ultimately it was a lot more complicated. Wright not only kept a sizable entourage, but it also even had a name, "the Wright Stuff." And, yes, Rewis "Raw Dawg" Williams was tasked with getting Wright out of bed each morning at 9:15, a job made even odder by the fact that Wright was married at the time.

With Wright blowing through $50 MM as fast as he can make it and Antoine Wright going through over $100 MM the same way (and there are many others, Eddy Curry is broke right now despite making $10 + MM a year), I wonder if the player's union shouldn't consider negotiating for more money coming out of every player's check for 'pension' plans.
And I mean a good chunk of the check, not the type of money you or I put in.
They could even design the pension so that it could be used before retirement for certain things (maybe things like a housing allowance and child support).
The only way to do it would be for the Union to be solidly behind the idea, which may be tricky, but giving 20 year olds millions of dollars is a good way for them to get in trouble and squander every cent. At least if some of the money is put away, they can only blow, say, 80% of it.

That is an interesting idea EA. If that was too draconian, the Union could try to ensure every player has a competent financial advisor. Not their brother Jake or their friend Jim from their old neighborhood.

That would be better than nothing, although if the player could just ignore the 'finanical dude' as many might, then we are back at square one.
It will probably never happen, but I think it may make some people's lives better.

Orange estimated Wright was carrying between $2,000 and $3,000 in big bills. Police have not said if robbery is a possible motive in the slaying.

I didn't comment in this thread earlier because the preliminary report was so sketchy about his death. The thing is we often make assumptions about people who are going through difficult times and don't always know the truth- so it is not surprising that some in the media and outside the media jumped to the suicide idea- when it is pretty clear he was likely murdered.
My husband and I were talking about how some of these guys end up in financial trouble- and asked ourselves why? And there are many reasons for it, you have families, posses, and the absolute need for someone to be your money manager to help with your crazy taxes in which you have to file taxes in the cities you play in, that help make it tough for kids who grew up with little.

I don't know of many robberies in which a guy gets shot twelve times and still had two to three thousand dollars still in his pocket this seems fishy, not saying that it isn't possible just sounds fishy.
My condolences go out to his family and friends.

So, supposedly they received a 911 call from Wright's phone. The dispatcher heard someone curse and then 10 gun shots went off... Why the HELL did they not do anything until someone filed a report?!

Because the OP was stupid. They can locate a cell phone call pretty damn quick these days. I don't get it either.....
